Experienced Line Cooks are needed to work on a part-time basis at our Paterson campus.  Knowledge of buffet set-ups, including the preparation of soups and sauces required.  A physical exam and background check will be conducted for these positions.  Candidates should apply in person to Chef Jim at the Food Service office, located within the Cafeteria at the Paterson main campus.

Part-time Pastry Chef/Instructor is needed to work in our food service operation.  Experience with baking and dessert and pastry preparation required.  Normal hours of work will be Monday - Thursday from 1:30 pm to 8:00 pm, Saturdays from 7:30 am - 2:00 pm.  Apply in person to Chef Jim at the Cafeteria on our main campus in Paterson , or fax your resume to number 973-345-9435.

Receiving Clerk is needed to perform on-site and off-site deliveries of boxes, packages, supplies, and equipment.  He or she will also transport mail and provide some general warehouse duties. Candidates must have the ability to lift and transport materials.  A driver’s license is required; forklift license is a plus. The regular schedule for this position will be up to 29 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with some flexibility required.

Staff Assistant is needed to provide support services for our Enrollment Management function at  Passaic County Community College . Duties include: secretarial and clerical support, data entry, telephone contact, maintaining records, and assisting with student registration. This staff person will assist in the general management and services of the office. An Associate’s Degree is required, along with strong office, interpersonal, and communication skills. At least three years of office experience is preferred, as well as a good working knowledge of Microsoft software products. Occasional evening and weekend hours required. “A Brush With Kindness” Apprenticeship Program

Paterson Habitat for Humanity operates a home repair program called “A Brush with Kindness” (BWK) to preserve owner-occupied, low-income housing and eliminate blight within the city of Paterson .  The primary focus of these repairs is safety, energy efficiency and independent-living.  Priority during the selection process is given to seniors, the disabled and other homeowners with special needs.

A new feature of the BWK program in 2008 is an apprenticeship program.  This program will provide hands-on training in new home construction and home repair.  Apprentices will work as a member of the Paterson Habitat construction crew.  As such, there are opportunities to learn all phases of home construction from framing to interior finish work.

Qualified candidates for an apprenticeship would need to:

1) Be a Paterson resident between the ages of 17 and 25 who is seeking a career in construction.  Both men and women are encouraged to apply.  Paterson Habitat is an EOE employer.

2) Be available a minimum of 20 hours per week, between the hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, including every Saturday.

3) Complete a job application with Paterson Habitat for Humanity by November 21, 2008.  Applications can be picked up at the Habitat office, 146 North 1st Street , Paterson .  Applications can also be mailed/emailed by contacting the office: 973-595-6868 x105 or office@patersonhabitat.org.   Selection is expected to be made by December 15, 2008.

If selected, candidates must:

-Be in attendance on time each scheduled work day.
