The web site of the Bureau of the Census contains a wealth of information, from population statistics to economic surveys, both historical and current.

Some of the topics available are:

Census 2000 Information on the how and why of the 2000 census.  Phone numbers of regional offices, employment opportunities.

American Factfinder  Allows searching by subject, coverage date, geographic area, and others.

Population  Statistics on age, ancestry, marital status, language use, and a  wide variety of other topics.

Business  Statistics on Manufacturing, Construction, and more.  Information on the new North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) is also available.

Maps Census Maps, School Districts, TIGER maps, Gazetteer

The American Community Survey (ACS) a survey conducted by the U.S. Census Bureau that provides accurate and up-to-date profiles of America's communities every year.  Full implementation will begin in 2003.  Sample areas are available (see Data Products in the Index), but New Jersey is not yet among them.
